Hawk Lake Dump survey – some initial data

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to our survey about the planned closure of the Hawk Lake waste disposal site. And there were a lot of you – 210 in total, to be exact.Your feedback & responses have given the HHLPOA board a lot to consider as well as some good actionable items. We are planning our next steps now and will keep you updated. In the meantime, we thought you’d be interested in some of the results from the survey questions:

– Only 12% of respondents were in favour of closing the dump
– If the Hawk Lake dump is closed, 93% of you will go to the Maple Lake dump; people were concerned about possibly taking their garbage home as well as the chance of more road side dumping
– The majority of us use the dump on a weekly or biweekly basis on average
– It will take most of us at least 15 minutes extra and upwards of 45 minutes to make the trek to Maple Lake. 99% of our survey respondents own property on or around Halls Lake, Big Hawk Lake & Little Hawk Lake, so our local connection is clear.

Thank you again – we greatly appreciate your feedback. We will let you know what happens next.
