Giant Hogweed – this stuff is NASTY!

This past weekend I attended the Annual General Meeting for the Coalition of Haliburton Associations.  There were many interesting topics covered, but there was one thing I wanted to draw your attention to right away.  There was a presentation done on various types of “invaders” and one in particular jumped out at me – Giant Hogweed.  GH makes poison ivy look friendly and it can grow as tall as 10-12 feet.  The flower looks similar to Queen Anne’s Lace and can easily be mistaken for it.  If you come across GH don’t touch it or try to remove it.  Here is a picture of it.
