Looking Ahead to 2012
We have begun working on the 2012 program and are accessing what changes or enhancements we are able to make, however there are some of the things we already know. We will be publishing a 2012 calendar, similar to the 2011 calendar. It will be a 12 month calendar from April 2012 to May 2013. A call for photos is already out and I would encourage you to send some of your best ones in to Diane at dianedennisrock@aol.com for consideration.
Something very important we are working on for 2012 is a change to our website. Starting in April 2012, our website will have a “members only” section which will be password protected. You will hear more about this as we work through the design and get closer to implementation. We will also be introducing PayPal so that you have an easy alternative for paying your membership fees.
We will be working on the Preferred Lake Level report for CEWF based on the survey you completed for us this fall and will publish this to you as soon as it is ready. We are hopeful that Docktalks, the Symposium & Social and the Shoreline Advisor programs will all be available for 2012. We are also hoping to develop a model for Volunteer positions which will help us to articulate our needs more effectively. We will be looking for a financial audit, and are hoping that someone in our membership will have the qualifications to assist us with that. Some other ideas we are exploring are a canoeing and/or hiking excursion with an educational component and possibly a Webinar to discuss a topic that is relevant to our community. We are also investigating the possibility of installing a Webcam at the Little Hawk dock which would open up a number of possibilities for us, including reintroducing the Ice-in/Ice-out contest.
We have a number of files open that we will continue to focus on, namely:
- the hydro project at Buttermilk Falls
- Demonstration Park for Elvin Johnson Park
- Tree Preservation Bylaw
- Portfolio of open items with Council
Stay tuned for updates on all these items as the Board develops the 2012 program.
